3rd Annual Christmas Extravaganza!!

Tonight we celebrated Christmas on the show with holiday music, conversation and a couple of interviews. One important interview was with, of course, Santa Claus! Santa stopped in to talk with us about the magic of Christmas, gave us some details on his preparations for Christmas Eve, fielded some great questions from the staff and told a few jokes from the North Pole.

We also spoke with Lt. Desmond James of NORAD's Santa Tracker. We learned the uncanny story of how Santa Tracker came to be and also how things are operated so that NORAD can track Santa all Christmas Eve. You can visit the website below for more information and to track Santa on Christmas Eve.

We had some of our past guests stop by to say hello including Sabrina, Kay Stout and Dillon from VISEDAL, who received quite a surprise from Santa and the WBTM Radio Network.

Show Notes - 12/06/2009

Tonight's episode saw the return of one of the show's favorite regular guests, Brock LaRobb. Brock is a political and social analyst and we always get into some great discussion when he comes onto the panel.

Subject matter included the status of the government who are ruining the country. Barack Obama apologizing for things we do instead of standing firm about the things that we do; that is a serious issue and it shows weakness on the part of the USA.

We then spoke about the issue of illegal aliens in the US. Actually this was a revisit on a subject that was discussed two weeks ago but we had compiled more information regarding the issue. With the National Debt clocking at a little over $12 Trillion we have approximately 41,600,000 illegal aliens in America holding down jobs that otherwise could be given to unemployed LEGAL US Citizens. If the illegals made approximately $31,200 and we know they are NOT paying their 30% in taxes or $9360 then we are missing $389,376,000,000 per year to the debt coffers. This means that we as Americans should be telling our elected officials to THROW THESE PEOPLE OUT!

To end on a positive note, we spoke about the holiday season and the fact that traditions are definitely shrinking in our society and it seems to be caused by the commercialization of the Christmas holiday. There was a time when retailers CLOSED on Thanksgiving & Christmas so families can be together. Thanks to the GREED of the retail industry, families have harder times being able to be together. We need to keep these traditions alive. Perhaps if no one showed up, the retailers would close.

Tonight we had a fantastic and revealing discussion with author and spiritual teacher, Kala Ambrose. We spent quite an evening with her discussing the Mystery Schools of Ancient Egypt, reincarnation and so much more. As we always find, there are so many spiritual mysteries abound out there and also as usual, we only felt that we scarred the surface so Kala will be back again in the very near future. In the meantime, learn more about her by visiting her site below.

We then discussed the letter that was written and sent to President Barack Obama by a 95 year old veteran and patriot. It bears as much media as it can and so we proudly reprint the letter and we thank Harold for telling the president how we all feel:

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

" We're no longer a Christian nation"

" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even announced to the world," America is mean-spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

GAME SHOW FRENZY CHAMPION :: STEPHEN COLON

On this episode. we had our very first Game Show Frenzy competition between Terry Dalton & Stephen Colon. Stephen won the competition 50 points to Terry's 20 and will be the reigning champion to compete again in January 2010.

Later, we interviewed Will Loomis from the Santa Barbara rock sensation, Loomis & The Lust. The band has an amazing sound to their music that screams old school funk, R&B and 80's pop but does well in the modern music scene. Will says that the band loves to pay homage to the old sounds and it is this style of music that they listen to when traveling. Visit their website below to find out more information, stay in touch and download their music.

We also spent some time talking about the seriousness of the immigration issue as it pertains to the national deficit and debt. Illegals working in the US are stealing jobs from legal citizens and all the while NOT paying taxes. This is a serious issue.

On this episode, we spent the evening talking about the Twilight Saga and the upcoming motion picture, NEW MOON.

We talked about the madness of the fans and we heard from a few who are completely into the whole Twilight thing. Also we had plenty of audio bytes of interviews and reports on the stars and the movies.

Tonight on the show we had a fascinating interview with Dylan Waugh and Brad Johnson of VISEDAL. VISEDAL is a non-profit organization geared to removing less fortunate children of Nicaragua from the streets and place them back into the education system; thus giving them the chance to have an alternative life-style free from poverty. Currently they sponsor 20 children and are looking for donations and volunteers to help them grow. Visit the website below to find out more and see how you can help. Listen to the interview to experience what these two fine, young gentlemen have undertaken.

Later we discussed the health care bill which has passed in the House of Representatives but may find danger in the Senate. We are going to try and find someone for a later episode who might help us figure this whole thing out.

In Cleveland, Ohio, one Anthony Sowell returned after 15 years of incarceration and moved into a small neighborhood in 2005. It turned out that he spend the past 4 years making up for lost time by murdering so far, 11 women and burying them in the walls of his home and in shallow graves in the backyard.

We took a mandatory "moment of silence" at the top of the show for the victims and families of the Fort Hood Massacre. We discussed the latest unfolding events of this treacherous and senseless slaying of our service men and women.

Tonight on the program, we talked about Late Night TV Talk Host David Letterman's scandalous problems and how he is tackling them and turning them around to perhaps help his ratings. Also, Iran blasts back at Barack Obama regarding his statement saying that Iran hid their construction of a nuclear site. Is America the global bully? Do we have any facts that show without a doubt that Iran is developing weapons and not energy? Too many unanswered questions.

Later we had a discussion with author/researcher Neil Kelly who is currently finishing a novel on the Gospel of Thomas. We asked some tough questions regarding the gospel and what it all means and guess what? It's really pretty down to earth.

On the show this time we spent a few valuable minutes with Megan Fulmer who is walking in the JDRF Walk To Cure Diabetes on October 3, 2009. Megan is a very special person and she is walking not because she has diabetes, she is walking for family and friends who are affected. We wish her the best of success with her walk.

We then spoke about banks charging high rates and fees for overdraft protection and how this has caught the eye of Congress. Hopefully this will stop the banks from ripping off their clients. Then we talked about a Wells Fargo executive who was fired for using a foreclosed upon beach house to hold weekend parties in. Good luck on the unemployment line, that was some low you stooped to.

Finally Kay Stout joined us for some additional career advice and this time the all inportant topic of older adults assimilating into the workforce under the guidance and supervision of younger counterparts. Kay's conversations are always fun and informative.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAYTEE!

On the big show, we talked about some current news issues that should be upsetting the public such as the city council in Bozeman, Arizona requiring applicants for city employees to give up their user names and passwords for all their social networks and emails for background checks; sounds like invasion of privacy to us. Did the UAW union kill the big three automakers? Most likely yes. They hammered for bigger pay hikes and better insurance and now the companies cannot stay in business without all of us bailing them out and for what?

Later, we interviewed John Bell and Cindy Taylor from the Bells in the Batfry Podcast and with them, came many of the characters from the program. We found out how John came up with this fantastic show, who are all these characters and why it is so tough to get Miss Shmacklehiemer to stop talking so much. It is very worth your while to slide over there and listen to every single episode and yearn for more.

She also talked about her latest project at Podioracket and we will have her back again soon to discuss that project and how it might help authors.

We also covered a few news notes:
1. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of beloved actor/comedian Dom DeLuise who passed away at the age of 75
2. We have some important Swine Flu info that you can use:

Swine Influenza & You - updated April 29, 2009, 10:55 PM ET

The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to those of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.

Swine influenza viruses are not spread by food and you cannot get it from eating pork or pork products. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing by people who have the virus. Sometimes people become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose. Infected people may infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 7 or more days after becoming sick. Children, especially younger children, might potentially be contagious for longer periods.

There is no vaccine available yet to protect against swine flu but you can take these everyday steps to help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza:

  1. First and most important: Wash Your Hands Often for 15 to 20 seconds using soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Simply rinsing your hands under running water without using soap does not kill germs - it spreads them. Alcohol-based hand cleaners, wipes, or gel sanitizers are also effective and may be used when soap and water are not available. If using gel, rub your hands until the gel is dry.
  2. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze. Put the tissue in the trash immediately after you use it.
  3. Try not touch contaminable surfaces. Some viruses and bacteria live 2 hours or longer on surfaces like doorknobs, coffee pots, telephones, keyboards, and desk tops. Alcohol-based wipes may be used to sanitize these items.
  4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread when someone contacts respiratory droplets from another person on such a surface and then touches their own eyes mouth or nose before washing their hands.
  5. Maintain good general health: get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
  6. Avoid close contact with sick people.

CDC RECOMMENDATIONS:

In Children who become ill, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • Bluish skin color
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Not waking up or not interacting
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
  • Fever with a rash

In Adults who become ill, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Sudden dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Severe or persistent vomiting

We discussed his sound which is such a large range and he sounds very much like a wonderful meld of Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison, The Beatles and Mike Pinder of The Moody Blues. We learned about his inspirations as well as how he handles putting all the music together as a true solo artist.

We also looked at the latest news including more despairing news on the national debt.

It was Joel's birthday and besides a celebratory song inserted by producer, Tony Richards, Joel had a nice birthday that finished up with an interview with one of his favorite actors, Voice Narrator/Actor Scott Brick. Scott is responsible for breathing the life into John Corey, Nelson DeMille's ficticious NYPD wise-ass detective in such novels as Plum Island, The Lion's Game and more. Scott has narrated over 400 projects and we spoke with him about what it is like to act by voice rather than by visual means. We also found out some other things about Scott and what is up next for him. Be sure and download this episode as it was a fantastic insight into the world of voice acting. Surely, Scott will be back on the program to reveal even more about his work.

Tonight's guest was the fantastic Americana/Folk band, High Cotton and we not only found out how a band with so many different musical background meld together so well, but we also listened to some fantastic tracks from their CD, Pictures. The whole gang dropped by and we were able to piece together the origins of the music they write. Truly, they are a class act of individuals and we will welcome them back again when they release their next CD...stay tuned!

We also spoke about health care and insurance issues, namely the fact that health care is falling apart and the insurance companies are fleecing the American citizens. Those of us with insurance truly have to consider ourselves very lucky indeed.

What A Show!! We interviewed Michael Costanzo of MPC Recordings and we spoke about the inner workings of the behind the scenes work of producing Indie music. He also brought along a few treats including a new piece of music from Dave Diamond's upcoming EP release (Summer 2009) which showcased Dave's talent from wall-to-wall. After that he introduced a whole new act coming out on the MPC label called High Ten and we did the World Premier Sneek of their single, The Day That You Met Her. The only way to hear the track until the official release is on the show archives.

After the interview, we had an overwhelming amount of calls and support from listeners who are on the edge of their seats awaiting the High Ten release and e canot agree more. The band introduces a fresh sound, great lyrics and no rough stuff. If you missed the show LIVE, you have to download it or check out the replay.
