MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Tonight we had our BIG season ending 2011 CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA! We always have a blast doing this show each year and celebrating Christmas on the air. As usual, we played some great Christmas carols and had a visit from Santa Claus who has gone slightly digital with the iPad to help him accomplish his tasks during the year and especially on Christmas Eve. Santa states that electronics are at the top of the wish lists this year and he also said that he is hearing more of the Christmas spirit this year from children, which means that maybe commercialization is not hindering the spirit of Christmas.

Later, Stacey Knoll of N.O.R.A.D. stopped by and explained the Santa Tracker system and how it all works. According to Stacey and as printed in Wikipedia; The program began on December 24, 1955 when a Sears department store placed an advertisement in a Colorado Springs newspaper which told children that they could telephone Santa Claus and included a number for them to call. However, the telephone number printed was incorrect and calls instead came through to Colorado Springs' Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Center. Colonel Shoup, who was on duty that night, told his staff to give all children that called in a "current location" for Santa Claus. A tradition began which continued when the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) replaced CONAD in 1958.

Here is a list of all the various ways that you can track Santa Claus using the Santa Tracker system:

Google Earth - http://www.noradsanta.org/en/track3d.html
On the Phone - (877) HI NORAD

So from our families to yours, we wish you a Very Merry Christmas and Joyous & Happy New Year! We will see you in 2012!

Tonight on Behind The Mike, we featured musician Kara McGraw, who is instrumental in bringing acts to the show. This time she is on the show to feature a beautiful Christmas song that she wrote entitled "The Chandelier". The proceeds of the song are being sent to help aid the local Vermont farmers who were devastated by Hurricane Irene. Please visit her Facebook site below to download the song and make a donation to help the cause.

Later on the program, Barry Slinker from OldTimeRadioUSA.com stopped by to do some OTR Christmas. We talked about some nostalgic Christmas moments and played music and clips from the OTR era. We had lots of fun talking about the origins of some things from yesteryear, reminiscing and listening to some great holiday moments.

Tonight on the show we featured the singing duo, AZALEA. Benjamin and Mia sat down with us and talked about their "outside the box" style of writing music and we featured their hit single, Abilene, from their EP Coffee & Kisses. Check out their website below for more information and where you can grab your copy of the EP, you Hoser!

Later, we covered some real pulitzer winning news like the 30 year old Jennifer Harris, who tried to burn her friend's home down while her and her husband slept because her friend un-friended her on Facebook. Be careful who you un-friend. Then, TSA agents in Virginia razzled a 17-year old woman because she has a designer purse with a 2" embroidered handgun on the purse. Apparently, you cannot have pictures or embroidery of handguns on planes and apparently, you could get a job as a TSA agent even if you are DEAD!

Herman Cain has suspended his political campaign due to allegations of sexual affairs. Though he may have been a front-runner, he certainly had his issues with foreign affairs. Not sure he was as much a front-runner as he may have looked. However, looking at the rest of the candidates in the Republican choices, it does not look like they have anyone who can beat Obama in the election...scary!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Tonight on the Tech Support Sunday segment we talked about the proper way to clean your mouse and keyboard without damaging them. Listen in and get the details to make sure it is clean and sanitized. Also we spoke about upgrading RAM and how to recognize that RAM is normally installed in pairs plus how to adjust your Virtual RAM settings:

Formula is 1.5 x RAM = Maximum Paging Size

Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click Settings.
Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory click Change.
Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set.
Click OK to close the dialog box and apply changes.

Later we discussed how you should discuss Santa Claus as your children grow older. Perhaps when you wrap toys you put 2-3 from Santa and the rest from yourselves. Children should always hold in their hearts that Santa is a part of Christmas.

Then Joel tore into the people who hide behind social media and bash the Occupy Movement. Try coming out from behind the keyboard and get involved in the political process.

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Our guest on the show this week was a return expert, Matthew Stein. Mat has just published his new book, "When Disaster Strikes" which encompasses many elements of his previous book, "When Technology Fails". It also expands on some of the most important things that you need to know when a disaster arises. The book is very well written and is in a condensed form so that it fits well in your survival pack. Mat says it's like insurance; buy it and have it in case you need it. We agree, you will not be sorry.

Later on the show, Sharen and Joel had a "discussion" as to why there are different rules for men and women like a man is not allowed to buy a woman a vacuum cleaner as a gift but it is OK for a woman to buy a man a cookware set. Just putting that out there to see if it sticks. Do you have an opinion? We'd like to entertain them, just drop us a line.

Also, is it just us (and everyone else) or is Christmas arriving earlier and earlier with each passing year? As Sharen observes, soon we will have the decorations up all year long.

TRIVIA QUESTION - What is the origin of Black Friday? Two possible answers but only one needed to win a Behind The Mike prize pack. Email your answer to us at Studio@BehindTheMike.info. The correct entries will be put into a hat for the winning draw and announced Sunday night November 20.

Have a question for our next show? Email us with it and we'll read it on the air and also comment/answer it for you as well.

Andy Rooney Dies at 92

Tonight on the show, we remember Andy Rooney, who passed away Friday night at age 92. Recently he delivered his 1,097th essay for 60 Minutes. His career in broadcasting spanned 60 years; 30 of which were in television.

Later we discussed an article that discusses whether going organic is worth the money. We looked at the amount of pesticides, chemicals and other garbage in certain foods; meats, poultry, fruits and veggies. Eye opening discussion.

Barry Slinker of Old Time Radio USA joined us on the show and discussed ...old time radio. We talked about his station, Fright Night Theater and the upcoming annual 24/7 seasonal run that begins on Thanksgiving evening with "Miracle on 34th Street". Barry has been doing OTR for 11 years and it has been a life-long passion for him (just like BTM's Joel). You can learn more about the station and listen to the shows by visiting the link below.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

On the show tonight, we spoke about some bothering news stories, including a police officer who shot a dog after throwing him down a stairwell. According to witnesses, the dog was in no way displaying fearful tactics towards anyone including the officer but he tackled the dog, wrestled him to the ground, pulled his arms behind his back and then threw him down a stairwell before firing several shots into the dog executing him. What is wrong with society? This type of behavior is typical in serial killers just before they target other humans.

Then we talked about how your Twitter feeds are recorded by the US Library of Congress for posterity sake and maybe so they can just spy on us plus some new intelligent street lights systems that may be designed especially for big brother to watch and record our activities. You decide, we had some indecision here.

The BIG guest was Dr. David Oester from the International Ghost Hunters Society. Dave stopped by and talked to us about some ghost hunting techniques including EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena). EVP is the technique of recording ghost voices to document life after death. Also, he spoke about the difference between ghosts and parallel dimensions (doppelgangers). Some quick facts about performing your own ghost hunts, the veil between the living and the dead is at it's thinnest point 2-3 days on either side of a new moon or full moon and at Christmas time. Visit his website below to learn more and SEE more. Plus a link to the famous Gettysburg Wheatfield Ecto photo taken by our own Sharen 4 days before a full moon.

Philadelphia Terror Film Festival
October 27-29, 2011
ETHICAL SOCIETY BUILDING
1906 S. Rittenhouse Square
Philadelphia PA 19103

On the show tonight, Claw and Princess Horror, both from the Terror Film Festival which starts this weekend (Halloween weekend). Claw gave us an insightful look behind the scenes on the festival and how it started and how it has grown in five years. Then the devilishly fun Princess Horror joined us to discuss some of the films this year but reminds us that they are all certainly terror-ific films. Check out the website below and buy your tickets online NOW! Also check out their band, E2Angels for some fine ass music.

Later on the show news subjects such as Muammar Gaddafi's final day before public execution at the hands of the rebels and the US' credit rating may again be lowered by another credit rating company because Congress has not shown any confidence that they will be able to address the deficit problem or the economic situation.

Then we asked the question "if technology failed permanently tomorrow, are you ready"? Think about that question because in all seriousness we have made such strides in allowing technology to affect our lives that it may be hard to handle life without it. Could you?

Show Notes - 10/16/2011

The BIG show tonight featured our monthly Tech Sunday episode where in the first half hour Joel and Tony talked about something so many of us admit is vital when the time comes of a hard drive crash, but seldom is done on even a regular basis and that is BACKING UP YOUR DATA

While you can usually restore your operating system, and even most or all of the programs you had on the machine prior to a hard drive crash, the likelihood of you being able to retrieve those old family photos , your music collection, or especially in the workplace, those critical accounting records are often irreplaceable.

How does one solve this? By setting up and FOLLOWING a routine that backs up your PC daily, weekly or whenever you make a change. Many times, backup software can run at night, or in the background and you won't even know it is there. But there are easier ways too. A simple External USB or other type of media, CD, DVD, etc can be used in drag and drop fashion and allow you to move files easily, even if you are a novice.

Later, Tony and Joel talked about the various anti-virus software packages and why people even turn them off or uninstall them and how to make them run more efficiently. They also talked about some of the common problems in email and other problems some anti-virus programs have and how to resolve them.

Later on the program, we featured our monthly segment, Ideas for A Challenging Economy with Kay Stout. Discussion included not talking negatively about your workplace on your social networking sites. Also, Kay recommends that you not dismiss the holiday season as a time to reach out to networking contacts because many people begin hiring campaigns in the new year. Keep in touch, let them know that you are still out there.

Finally, Kay interviewed Matt Crevin. Matt is the public Address announcer for the San Francisco 49ers. He also operates a website and show called "Voice of the Box". He interviews people who work behind the scenes in sports and passes the information to everyone interested. Sports is a career field that shows no evidence of slowing up as far as growth and there are many overlooked opportunities to work in various aspects of the field. Visit Matt's website below to learn more about the opportunity that he reveals and how you can reach him for more info. Matt will appear on a future episode to speak some more about these opportunities and his show.

The BIG show tonight included author DCS and a conversation about her Synarchy series of novels which we found out will begin realization into a motion picture in the first quarter of 2012. She also has a very entertaining radio show of her own and you can get links to her website to learn more about that or get your copy of the books by checking below.

Singer/Songwriter Shane Simonsen visited with us and shared his music with us which is very relaxing. Shane hails from the Northwest where many a great singing artist hails from. Shane says that many of his music he performs today were written when he was a pre-teen/teenager making it ageless music. You have to pick up his music from links below and drop them in your iPod.

ECWA wrestlers Adam Cole and Kekoa the Flyin' Hawaiian Joined us on the phones to discuss their rematch at the ECWA Pro Wrestling event on Saturday October 15, 2011 at the Boys & Girls Club, Route 40, Newark, Delaware. Two friends, battling for nothing more than the urge to prove themselves equally matched in the ring. You have to check out this great family entertaining show.

Tonight on the show, Actor Kane Hodder better known for such great roles as Jason Vorhees (x4), Ed Gein and the B.T.K. Killer and his biographer, Michael Aloisi joined us from the road. They are currently touring the book, Unmasked: True Life Story of the World's Most Prolific Cinematic Killer. The book chronicles not simply the career of Kane Hodder as an actor and stuntman but his personal life as well. Some great conversation with Kane and Michael and in a short time, we learned plenty enough to keep us in anticipation of getting our own copy of the book.

Later Celtic sensation band, The Vintage Wildflowers stopped by and talked about their beginnings and how they are enjoying the limelight of their music while playing festivals, being featured on great radio shows (like this one) and even playing the Kennedy Center. We featured their track "In My Prime" and talked about the beautiful spin that they place on Old World songs. Catch their music on their website below.

An interesting piece of news coming across the desk is about a company in Florida that is looking to create renewable energy as in electricity to Florida from using the sludge from waste water...better known as POOP. This could be a very good thing especially if other companies around the country would latch onto the idea and run with it. This is a renewable energy that is available here and now and could save Americans money. See the story below.

Plus we had a conversation regarding television shows including some new releases this year, returning favorites and whether we think Two and a Half Men can survive the post-Charlie era.

The Return of Brock LaRobb

Our friend, couch potato, author and political analyst Brock LaRobb joined us tonight on the show to discuss a variety of things that have been brewing in politics such as the recent Solyndra Scandal, which could bring about the demise of our president (hopefully) and this was interesting because Brock made a prediction in 2008 and stands by it that something like this would rock the presidency. With a year or so to go in the current administration Brock believes that this is very much still a possibility.

Also, we all seem to agree that Donald Trump could make a very good president as far as business matters are concerned with getting the country back to a respected and respectable nature. We also seem to like Herman Cain; there are not too many stand out stars yet in the arena vying for the presidency.

Of course as we always do when Brock is aboard, we spent some time discussing Fantasy Football and of course America's past-time, baseball.

News and discussion tonight on the program and first news note was that convicted murderer Thomas Capano was found dead in his cell at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna, Delaware. Capano was convicted of the 1996 murder of his mistress Anne Marie Fahey. Good riddance and we hope the Fahey family finds peace in this event.

Remember when you dad worked shift work and he had all these crazy sleeping hours to go with those crazy work hours? Well, dad would not have to work out a sleep schedule today if he was on shift work because he could take a pill (Provigil) for his Shift Work Disorder (SWD). Are we creating disorders and pills now for anything? This is really the lazy way out of this to be sure. And have you ever asked your healthcare rep at work why your premiums go up each year? They are sure to tell you that the cost of new illnesses and drugs are part of it...you do the math.

We also debuted on Stickam. That is right, a StudioCam!! Check it out:

Happy Labor Day!!

Music Journalist David Wild took over the studios first and had a great show celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original motion picture soundtrack, O Brother, Where Art Thou. David has some comments from some of the actors from the movie as well as an interview with T-Bone Barnett. Download the podcast and listen to some music that made the soundtrack and some that didn't. It was a great show. Our thanks to David!

Afterwards, it was just a fun night being a holiday weekend and we took off from the usual rumblings and soap box speeches plus played some marching music...so you can think of that parade and fireworks on Labor Day.

Tonight on the show, we welcomed Dr. Ted Galen Carpenter who is a senior fellow for defense and foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute. Dr. Carpenter discussed the reasons why the United States must resist any type of military role in a post-Gaddafi Libya. The United States cannot afford a long-term financial rebuilding project. He also suggests that when the NATO operation is over, a country that has a closer and more direct interest, such as Italy, France or Spain should handle the after-party (so to speak).

Also, we checked in with details about the East Coast earthquake which happened in the Mineral, VA area 3.7 Miles below ground and was felt from South Carolina to Maine. It was the largest East Coast earthquake since 1944.

Tonight on the show we began with a very interesting interview with author Gabriella van Rij and she wrote a book entitled "With All My Might". The book is based on her personal journey with dealing with cultural differences. Gabriella has sustained some truly paradigm shifts in her life that has caused her to deal with living in different cultures and dealing with and coming to terms with the statement, "It's OK to be different". You can find out more and order the book by visiting her website below.

Dave Bart who works for Swift Demolition and Recycling stopped by in the studio to discuss recycling on the community level. What we learned is that Dave has an additional message buried in that and that is we need to get back to the way things were in the 60s, 70s and even into the 80s when we were doing so much more recycling without realizing that we are doing it. If we can come together for community events then let's see how we can also as a community help each other and recycle as a community therefore helping the environment and getting back to know each other in person.

Kay Stout joined us on the Ideas For A Challenging Economy segment and spoke with Kris Rush, President & CEO of Rush Strategies LLC. They spoke about some of the positive trends and legislation in the Oklahoma area and how the economic changes in that area shows promise that the economy on a larger level in other US regions certainly can improve.

Tonight on the program, we spoke of more troubles with Verizon as Joel was temporarily blacklisted as a spammer. Most likely this was due to the fact that we have a .info domain, oh well. The problem was resolved but an awful inconvenience.

We also spoke about the trouble with auto repair bills skyrocketing during the economy and thus making more trouble for people already down from the economy. What are you doing to combat this problem? Do you know of any good mechanics, garages or dealers who are stepping up to lower prices of car repairs? Let us know. Tell us on our Facebook Page.

Finally we featured new music from our friend, Singer/Songwriter Randell Beck. He wrote a song entitled, "31" and dedicated to the 31 fallen soldiers in the Taliban attack on the military helicopter in Afghanistan on August 5th. The song is truly brilliant and you can visit his site and grab the song below.

Issues Issues Issues

Yes tonight with all the issues going on, we covered a few big bullet points. First is a disturbing story about unhappy workers leaving their jobs voluntarily in hopes of finding greener pastures. This is disturbing because we cannot imagine someone leaving a job voluntarily in this economic fabric and taking their chances on unemployment hoping for something better. Would anyone really dare to do that even in a good economy? Well, about 2 million Americans decided to do it and that is up 35% in the past two years.

Next, Verizon is on strike. Well Joel took issue with this because unions seem to make things unfair for the rest of us hard working people out here. You already make a better salary than most of us and have better benefits than most of us and you need more and more. Certainly it is not all the fault of the employees. There are officers of the unions that make these greedy decisions. Meanwhile, workers are put out to strike instead of working and making money to support their families. As caller Jack says, this is not the 1930s anymore.

For more on what happened on the show, check out the links below to the news that we covered.

We spoke with Shelly Palmer, Host of NBC Universal's Live Digital with Shelly Palmer and Fox 5 New York's On-Air Tech expert. We spoke to him about Facebook's Facial recognition and the fact that users would have to opt OUT of it rather than select it to be enabled. While many people judge this sort of thing, Shelly reminds us of the obvious which is that Facebook is free. People who get something for nothing will usually complain about it...society being what it is. Check out Shelly's website for more on the digital world and you will get lost on his site for hours.

Then we discussed Disc Cloning software and how the benefits of this are slightly better than that of backing files up because when you clone a disc, you are making an exact replica of everything on your hard drive at that given time, including all your software and settings. RAID systems were also discussed.

On the program tonight we spoke with Country Singer & Songwriter Randell Beck. Randell hails from Lubbock Texas where such greats like Mac Davis, Waylon Jennings and Buddy Holly hailed from. Randell is another great coming out of the plains of Texas. We featured his single, Take Me Back, which is about to be released on a 5 song EP. Randell has a great background in music, keeps himself very musically busy and will be returning to the show very soon for more music and fun. Check out his website below for more information and how you can get his tunes.

Would you believe that top White House Adviser, David Axelrod is blaming the tea party Republicans for the downsizing of the US credit rating from AAA to AA+? So in 7 months, these 59 Republicans are solely responsible for this? That is very big of the White House to blame someone else for this problem because not ONE other congress person can hardly be responsible. No and not ONE other person in the administration over the past 10 or so years is at all responsible for anything that has made this financial mess, is that about right? Does anyone else buy the bullshit? I don't. I say that these 69 people have begun the process of restoring checks and balances.

Tonight we were visited by our friend Danika Holmes who is a wonderfully talented Americana singer and songwriter. Things have been well for Danika as she has been performing and working on her new material and keeping very busy. The CD Release party is planned for Friday November 4, 2011 and will be broadcasted on a web stream all over the world, which is way cool. The time is TBD so stay tuned to http://www.DanikaHolmes.com/kickstarter for details.

The Senate passed the debt ceiling bill and President Obama signed it into law. However this is just trouble waiting to spawn again as the debt limit raised only covers the federal government until September 30 where we will have to watch again as these lazy no good politicians come to an emergency 11th hour deal instead of proposing a budget with realistic elements.

Tonight we were talking about politically incorrect terms. In fact we have no idea why the hell these terms or words had to be changed as they were, for the most part, FINE. Here is the promised list from The New Book Of Lists:

12 Politically Incorrect Terms and Their Alternatives

  • BORING - Differently Interesting; Charm-Free
  • DEAD - Terminally Inconvenienced
  • DISHONEST - Morally Different; Ethically Disoriented
  • DRUNK - Sobriety-Deprived
  • HERPES - His 'n' herpes
  • MAFIOSO - Member of a Career-Offender Cartel
  • MEAT - Processed Animal Carcasses; Scorched Corpses of Animals
  • OLD JOKE - Previously Recounted Humorous Narrative
  • PANHANDLER - Unaffiliated applicant for private sector funding
  • SHOPLIFTER - Nontraditional Shopper
  • SNOWMAN - Person of Snow
  • WHITE(person) - Melanin-Impoverished

We also updated the latest news about President Obama demanding compromise on the debt ceiling issue and also threatening to veto plans that he basically does not like. It is OUR OPINION that he is only interested in plans that allow him to keep spending blank checks and not really caring how it affects WE THE PEOPLE. What are your thoughts?

Our friend Sean Sublette the Chief Meteorologist at ABC-13 in Lynchburg, VA joined us on the show to talk about the recent heat wave and explained that although we feel hot here on the East Coast, we probably are relatively cool compared to some other areas. Also, he said that the heat index calculations may need some updating and we figure that right now heat index allows us to share with each other whose number is bigger. Sean also says to be on the lookout because Hurricane Don will be next so that means we can prepare to ceremoniously give Don Beam his new name.

Joel swept off the old soap box and got on top to discuss the debt ceiling problem with President Obama's new scare tactics or threat about suspending Social Security checks in August. So now he has beaten down the poor, he has bitch-slapped the middle class and now he will mug the elderly. It seems that he is asking for an escort right out of the oval office. Stay Tuned...

Tonight was the monthly segment with Kay Stout that we call Ideas For A Challenging Economy. Tonight we ask the question: If someone is looking to possibly relocate geographically, where are the best opportunities? Kay says that number 1 on her list is Texas. She said that as a whole, the State of Texas is growing very large in business and is a great place with a great diverse people and climate. Second choice is North Dakota which she states if you can stand freezing winters and hot summers, they have a very attractive 3.2% unemployment rate. Kay was then joined by voice artist Brian Richy and discussed with him his art of doing voice over work and they shared resources for people to perhaps tap into that inner self to draw out that outer voice. Find out more about him by visiting his website below.

Check it out! We talked about reality shows tonight as in the good the bad and the downright UGLY bottom of the barrel reality shows. It seems like every time we get a new reality show, another bad one, worse even, shows up on the scene. You can check out the list below in the links that breaks them into different genres and the puts them in order of release dates (year). What are your favorites? Which do you despise the most?

Plus we talked about the heat wave which is planning to maybe climb into the triple digits and stay around for about a week. We should all take time to check on neighbors, the elderly and family and be sure that everyone is safe and COOL!

Tonight to start things off on the big show, Elizabeth Eagan-Cox joined us. She is a librarian for ghost hunters and this autumn is releasing a great book called "Ghost Hunters Research Guide to Free Internet Resources". Elizabeth brought up five starter steps for investigating ghosts in houses; how to find out about them, research where they were buried and more. There was a lot of great information given which we have never believed would be useful but it is. The links to everything we discussed are located below including Elizabeth's official web site where you can find out more about the upcoming book and the author.

Next up we interviewed Dan & Laura Dotson, the star auctioneers of the smash hit A&E Television show STORAGE WARS. We Found out about how Laura, armed with a camera, shot some video of her husband and put it on YouTube launching them to stardom. We also learned that Dan and his wife & business partner Laura met ...at an auction. Great interview with a couple of great people who have become legends in the auction business. TECH TUESDAY!!

Free Tech Advice and Chat on Behind The Mike.

SVCHOST.EXE - What is it? From Microsoft: Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).However, in English it is a process that loads a selection of dynamic link libraries as they are needed for programs. If you have a lot of them running at one time in your Task Manager then you should look at what is running or starting with Windows by using a program such as Ccleaner. Check out the video below on how to use it:

Question From Chat Room: How does heat affect a computer? It affects it very much in a negative way. You must ensure that a computer or laptop is kept cleaned inside and out so that air can move through the chassis and keep the heat moving out. It is a good idea to use a laptop lift to keep air circulating under and around the laptop. There are some great liquid cooling options now available for computers listed below in the links section.

From a Caller: Is there a charge for your support on this show? NO. This is a free service provided by The Behind the Mike Show and PC Tech Rescue. You may however call PC Tech Rescue for more serious issues and discuss terms to have your computer repaired. They have tremendously great rates. The number is (302) 261-5397 and they do remote service calls anywhere in the United States via the Internet.

Password Protect Files - You can password protect your files or folders using Windows or a third party program to keep prying eyes out. However, always make an non-encrypted backup of the file or folder before encrypting in because you may forget your password and it can become very expensive to have that cracked. Here is a list of programs to encrypt your data FREE:

We talked about her inspirations, Cheryl Crow, who you can hear in her music. We featured her song, "Just Another Day" which you can get from iTunes and here is the music video:

Later we interviewed Billy Craig who is a great indie Country/Americana singer/songwriter. We found out that he has a knack of mixing the best in country, rock, rockabilly and beach together to formulate some great storytelling music that makes you feel real good. We had a listen to his song "Party on the Equator" and we talked to him about his project I LOVE THIS SCHOOL TOUR and how he is helping to get kids in schools to get re-focused on studies. Not Guilty!?

Tonight on the show, we discussed the verdict which was handed down today on Casey Anthony, the mother accused of killing her two-year old child in 2008. The verdict was not guilty after 10 hours of deliberation by the jury. How do you feel about the verdict? If you need some background on the events, see the links below.

Then we discussed the 15 year old Winston Charleston who took his mother's car keys and her keys for a middle of the night joyride around Northeast Philadelphia causing an accident which left one dead and 7 injured. Now he will be tried as an adult. We really lost control over the youth of America, agreed?

Happy 4th Of July Weekend!

Tonight on the show, Joel and the gang were semi-officially off celebrating so madman producer Tony Richards was allowed to choose what got aired on the show.....ut oh, right?

We opened the show with a musical tribute to freedom followed by a rebroadcast of a special presentation of CBS Radio's "You Are There" series with host John Daly. By the way, should that name sound familiar to the older folks, there is a reason for it. John Daly, in particular, most remembered by the Wartime America audience as the first voice to describe the events of December 7, 1941 to an anxiously awaiting public, was chosen to 'host' the initial series. He was depicted more as the Chief Correspondent for the series. However, he is probably more recognized as the host using his full name of John Charles Daly on the TV game show, "What's My Line?" which followed about a decade later.

CBS went on to create a total of sixty-four unique historical docudramas during the program's three-year run. Many of the scripts were so accurate and realistic that they were employed almost verbatim once the Television version of You Are There eventually aired over CBS from 1953-1958. The Television version was 'hosted' by Walter Cronkite
.

After that, we ran an earlier guest appearance by former FBI agent now turned book author Jack Owens, who wrote the book "Don't Shoot Us - We're Republicans!". The book, and Jack both are full of some of the fun times you will never hear about while being an FBI agent and what it was like working in the FBI for thirty years as a field officer. It is a fun, fast paced read and what happens to Jack along the way is....well... listen and find out!

Fish, Eggs & Sushi!

Tonight on the BIG show we interviewed Hayashi from the South Asian band, MOOCHIE MAC & THE SUPERFRIENDS and we featured their track, "Fish, Eggs & Sushi". We learned some interesting things about MMSF including great ideas come from drunkenness and they seem to be inspired by trips then write albums about them. It all works in beautiful unison and the end result is nothing short of fantastic. Check out the links below for more Moochie Mac.

Later discussion fell to the G20 Summit and the fact that world food supply could become a problem. True with the weather issues and disasters over the past several years coupled with other issues (politics, governments) we need to find ways to make this work for each of us. Of course we suggested that we start planting our own gardens. What do you think?

Our good friend Vicky Jones sent us a new piece of music, "She's In Love". Another fine track and we just had to play it...
