Show Notes 04/26/2011

Tonight on the show, author Bruce Headrick stops by again to talk about the release of his book memoir, TELL SECRETS TELL NO LIES; a memoir 25 years in the making where he talks openly clearing the air about his relationships with Hollywood elite while he worked as a male escort. Bruce reports that there is a great initial response with the book whereas many distributors not on the first run list are in need of ordering copies due to demand. Sounds to us like a good run. Stay tuned for more information about Bruce's upcoming activities on promoting the book.

Later we talked about a transwoman who was brutally beaten in a Baltimore McDonald's restaurant by two other women (18 and 14 years old). What kind of barbaric society do we live in that this woman had to endure a beating that left her with locks of her hair pulled out from being dragged around the reataurant, her face kicked in and left her having seizures before anyone decided to actually stop it? The employees, instead of stopping it, laughed and video taped it only to post it within minutes of the event. We posted the link to the video below but be warned, it is disgusting and it shows the worst human behavior imaginable.

Congratulations Heather & Marcus on their Wedding Day
April 16, 2011

On the show tonight we interviewed teenage singing sensation, Zoe Ann who is very reminiscent of The Runaways. Great sound and great music and she is gaining serious ground in the Indie music world. Her single, "Stronger", which we featured on the show, is number one (at show time) on the Indie Music Channel and on Tween Pop Channel. Check out more on Zoe at the website listed below and check out some more singles releasing soon on iTunes.

Also, we discussed the wild weekend of tornadoes; 241 tornadoes in 3 days in 14 states. Crazy weather circumstances collided to produce some very nasty weather.

We played a single by Sling called "All Fall Down" and Andy from the band called in and showed his love and appreciation and we told him we love the stuff which is sorta throwback to the pop of the 70s and Don pointed out that he immediately heard influences from Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Andy said it was a compliment.

Tonight on the show, the lovely Mary McDonough joined us for a conversation about her memoir, "Lessons From The Mountain: What I Learned From Erin Walton" plus some of her ongoing and upcoming projects. Did you know that Mary was considered for the part of Regan in The Exorcist? Mary is involved in many other projects including lobbying for women's health issues in Washington DC and working with women on self image.

Later we discussed the ongoing crisis of the rising price in gasoline, some ideas of what needs to happen and the fact that we have to cut our dependency on foreign oil and develop sustained sources of alternative energy. Also, President Obama will discuss raising taxes on the wealthier and also proposing possible cuts in Medicare and Medicaid...Bad Idea.

Behind The Mike - Covering TODAY'S Issues

Tonight on the show we are right back in the saddle of the issues. First discussion was about the Federal Budget and the 11th hour save on the potential government shutdown. Here on Behind The Mike, host Joel Michalec believes that the government should take a hard look at the useless government employees and departments and go ahead and close those sectors down. The government is far too big and has far too much waste.

Next we brought up the gas price issue. In the current economy we must be frugal and one way that we introduced was a website called Gas Buddy that will help you plan the best route to the least expensive gas. By the way and speaking of high oil prices, we have to start finding ways to cut our dependencies on foreign oil and develop alternative energy sources NOW!

We also had a discussion about the qualities that we'd like to see in our next and future presidents:

  • Cahonies
  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Citizenship
  • Apathy
  • Being for America

Show Notes - 04/05/2011

Tonight on the show, we talked about Barack Obama making his decision to run for re-election but what does that mean for us? Can we look back and see if there is some reason that we should give him another four years? Clearly we think not but we will see if he can dupe the American people one more time.

Later we discussed the issue surrounding the 2011 Federal Budget and the fact that if they do not get to an understanding, we face a shutdown of non-essential federal areas of the government. So, that means coffee runners, secretaries, stooges, etc have to be laid off? I say LET IT HAPPEN! It's about time an idea pops up that makes the people in Washington try working for a change. The government seems to forget that it is supposed to be a government by the people, of the people and for the people.

Major League Baseball Opening Weekend!

News and notes abound on the show tonight but we did start with discussing MLB opening weekend. Apparently, the umpire staff have not learned much about baseball during the off-season and still make crappy calls. Nice!

We updated the listener base on the Libyan conflict which the United States have agreed to NATO's request to continue air strikes into Monday. What we need to be sure is that this rebellion does not turn into a war and spark some large scale world event. Are the elected officials finally doing the required checks and balances?

Japan is looking to a polymer to hopefully help contain the radiation that is leaking into the ocean. Isn't that nice? Be sure and check yourself for glow when you finish swimming at your favorite beach. Let's hope that they get this problem solved. We did mention that maybe we are depending on nuclear energy too much instead of safer and renewable sources like air and water.

Have a question for our next show? Email us with it and we'll read it on the air and also comment/answer it for you as well.
