Show Notes - 10/30/2011

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

On the show tonight, we spoke about some bothering news stories, including a police officer who shot a dog after throwing him down a stairwell. According to witnesses, the dog was in no way displaying fearful tactics towards anyone including the officer but he tackled the dog, wrestled him to the ground, pulled his arms behind his back and then threw him down a stairwell before firing several shots into the dog executing him. What is wrong with society? This type of behavior is typical in serial killers just before they target other humans.

Then we talked about how your Twitter feeds are recorded by the US Library of Congress for posterity sake and maybe so they can just spy on us plus some new intelligent street lights systems that may be designed especially for big brother to watch and record our activities. You decide, we had some indecision here.

The BIG guest was Dr. David Oester from the International Ghost Hunters Society. Dave stopped by and talked to us about some ghost hunting techniques including EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena). EVP is the technique of recording ghost voices to document life after death. Also, he spoke about the difference between ghosts and parallel dimensions (doppelgangers). Some quick facts about performing your own ghost hunts, the veil between the living and the dead is at it's thinnest point 2-3 days on either side of a new moon or full moon and at Christmas time. Visit his website below to learn more and SEE more. Plus a link to the famous Gettysburg Wheatfield Ecto photo taken by our own Sharen 4 days before a full moon.

Show Notes - 10/23/2011

Philadelphia Terror Film Festival
October 27-29, 2011
ETHICAL SOCIETY BUILDING
1906 S. Rittenhouse Square
Philadelphia PA 19103

On the show tonight, Claw and Princess Horror, both from the Terror Film Festival which starts this weekend (Halloween weekend). Claw gave us an insightful look behind the scenes on the festival and how it started and how it has grown in five years. Then the devilishly fun Princess Horror joined us to discuss some of the films this year but reminds us that they are all certainly terror-ific films. Check out the website below and buy your tickets online NOW! Also check out their band, E2Angels for some fine ass music.

Later on the show news subjects such as Muammar Gaddafi's final day before public execution at the hands of the rebels and the US' credit rating may again be lowered by another credit rating company because Congress has not shown any confidence that they will be able to address the deficit problem or the economic situation.

Then we asked the question "if technology failed permanently tomorrow, are you ready"? Think about that question because in all seriousness we have made such strides in allowing technology to affect our lives that it may be hard to handle life without it. Could you?

Show Notes - 10/16/2011

The BIG show tonight featured our monthly Tech Sunday episode where in the first half hour Joel and Tony talked about something so many of us admit is vital when the time comes of a hard drive crash, but seldom is done on even a regular basis and that is BACKING UP YOUR DATA

While you can usually restore your operating system, and even most or all of the programs you had on the machine prior to a hard drive crash, the likelihood of you being able to retrieve those old family photos , your music collection, or especially in the workplace, those critical accounting records are often irreplaceable.

How does one solve this? By setting up and FOLLOWING a routine that backs up your PC daily, weekly or whenever you make a change. Many times, backup software can run at night, or in the background and you won't even know it is there. But there are easier ways too. A simple External USB or other type of media, CD, DVD, etc can be used in drag and drop fashion and allow you to move files easily, even if you are a novice.

Later, Tony and Joel talked about the various anti-virus software packages and why people even turn them off or uninstall them and how to make them run more efficiently. They also talked about some of the common problems in email and other problems some anti-virus programs have and how to resolve them.

Later on the program, we featured our monthly segment, Ideas for A Challenging Economy with Kay Stout. Discussion included not talking negatively about your workplace on your social networking sites. Also, Kay recommends that you not dismiss the holiday season as a time to reach out to networking contacts because many people begin hiring campaigns in the new year. Keep in touch, let them know that you are still out there.

Finally, Kay interviewed Matt Crevin. Matt is the public Address announcer for the San Francisco 49ers. He also operates a website and show called "Voice of the Box". He interviews people who work behind the scenes in sports and passes the information to everyone interested. Sports is a career field that shows no evidence of slowing up as far as growth and there are many overlooked opportunities to work in various aspects of the field. Visit Matt's website below to learn more about the opportunity that he reveals and how you can reach him for more info. Matt will appear on a future episode to speak some more about these opportunities and his show.

The BIG show tonight included author DCS and a conversation about her Synarchy series of novels which we found out will begin realization into a motion picture in the first quarter of 2012. She also has a very entertaining radio show of her own and you can get links to her website to learn more about that or get your copy of the books by checking below.

Singer/Songwriter Shane Simonsen visited with us and shared his music with us which is very relaxing. Shane hails from the Northwest where many a great singing artist hails from. Shane says that many of his music he performs today were written when he was a pre-teen/teenager making it ageless music. You have to pick up his music from links below and drop them in your iPod.

Two friends, battling for nothing more than the urge to prove themselves equally matched in the ring. You have to check out this great family entertaining show.

Show Notes - 10/02/2011

Tonight on the show, Actor Kane Hodder better known for such great roles as Jason Vorhees (x4), Ed Gein and the B.T.K. Killer and his biographer, Michael Aloisi joined us from the road. They are currently touring the book, Unmasked: True Life Story of the World's Most Prolific Cinematic Killer. The book chronicles not simply the career of Kane Hodder as an actor and stuntman but his personal life as well. Some great conversation with Kane and Michael and in a short time, we learned plenty enough to keep us in anticipation of getting our own copy of the book.

Later Celtic sensation band, The Vintage Wildflowers stopped by and talked about their beginnings and how they are enjoying the limelight of their music while playing festivals, being featured on great radio shows (like this one) and even playing the Kennedy Center. We featured their track "In My Prime" and talked about the beautiful spin that they place on Old World songs. Catch their music on their website below.
