Show Notes - 01/29/2012

Tonight on the program our first ever CD Party featuring the musical duo, Azalea. Our friends Benjamin and Mia sat in with us to display the ethereal works from their EP, Coffee & Kisses. We found out that this EP follows a path that relates to their building relationship that eventually led them to matrimony. Truly a feel good EP that everyone should own and right now for a limited time, get yours FREE. See the links section below for more detail.

Later we spoke about how a new study shows that Facebook makes people sad. How? Because when you log on and look at your friend's pictures of happiness and bliss, it makes you feel more sad. Really? If you feel sad, and a caller with authority agreed, log off and experience a dose of reality. Se the links for more on this and other crazy stories from the show.

Show Notes - 01/22/2012

On a very full show tonight we began with an interview with James Dirschberger. James is the Director of the Independent documentary film, "Honest Man: The Life of R. Budd Dwyer". The film chronicles the rise of Dwyer in Pennsylvania politics to the role of State Treasurer (1981-1987) to his suicide end on January 22, 1987. Visit the link below to the film's website to see great documentation of the bribery scandal, court case and more and buy the DVD to see this fantastic work.

Later we had a conversation with Michael Carrier, Professor at Rutgers School of Law. Michael talked about Congress' attempt to censor internet web sites on behalf of the Motion Picture Association, record labels and more. Although there was a temporary stay by way of citizen reaction this week which sent lawmakers backtracking and tabling the vote. Michael believes that this is not the last we hear on this issue.

We also covered a couple news stories; one of which was a tragic story from San Antonio, TX where a friendly dog, who jumped on a 10 year old girl being attacked by two other dogs to shield her, was deemed by the Animal Care Services and courts as dangerous and now is under a lot of scurrilous restrictions. The other two dogs, by the way, were euthanized. The other big story was the United States Postal Service is raising their rates on January 23, 2012 but will they refrain from throwing packages over people's fences with no regard for contents? I suppose we will see.

Ray Gauthier, host of Back To The 80s, joined us to close off the program and give us a look into how the show is going. We love Ray, he plays EIGHTIES music, I mean...c'mon! Listen every week to the show!

Show Notes - 01/15/2012

Tonight on the show we present a round of FREE PC Support! Though we did not field any phone calls, we spoke about a neat feature with Gmail that actually allows you to "unsend" your email within a few seconds of sending. This is a feature in the Gmail labs along with many others that you can check out. Also we talked about grabbing a backup drive that automates your backups, the dangers of backing up after a known infection plus our opinions on the best security setup for your computing needs.

Later, Kay Stout joins us for our regular segment on careers and she shared some interesting points to ponder if you are in the 18-35 or 51-62 age group and looking for work. Kay suggests that you may be in the position to be an ex-pat and work overseas. Listen to the archive of the show and check out some of her experiences while visiting in Dubai, UAE and the amount of Americans working abroad she encountered. We also discussed the temporary downgrade of the unemployment numbers but now what happens when all the service men come home and need work?

Show Notes - 01/08/2012

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!!!

Season 7 kicked off with a review of some notable events and other stuff throughout 2011 including a list of some of the people we lost. Later we dove into the GOP party and the Iowa Caucus. Michelle Bachmann has dropped out and as for the rest of the bunch, they look like a load of misfits and who knows what we face in 2012 as far as the election process goes. The real question becomes, can anyone beat Barack Obama? Probably not. The choices are so bad that he will default his way back into another term.

We also discussed Occupy Wall Street and many negative comments about the protestors, but maybe what they are really saying is that enough of this bullshit is enough! What we need, and maybe OWS is the starting point, is to restore America. Think about it.
