Show Notes - 05/20/2012

National Safe Boating Week
May 19 - May 25, 2012

Welcome to the broadcast as we kick off National Safe Boating Week by speaking with members of the Dundalk Power Squadron, a part of the United States Power Squadrons. Present for the show were Past Commander John Hall, Past Commander Brooks Riley, Past Commander Bernie Karpers and Lieutenant & Licensed Captain Tony Solesky. One of the items that we spent a considerable amount of time on is life vests and the fact that many people do not wear them. We also discussed some reasons why they could not be mandated into law. Also, in a slightly different spin, the gang spent some time this year discussing some of the more fun moments in boating. Be sure to visit the websites below to learn more and get information on the United States Power Squadrons.

Staggering statistic: in Maryland alone there are 200,000 registered boats. If you put an average of 5 boaters per craft, there are about 1 Million people on the waters on any given weekend.

Later, Kay Stout spent some time interviewing Matt Crevin about his book, Get in the Game: The Ultimate Game Plan For Transition From College To Career. The book is a very helpful resource for individuals who want to transition into a career with sports in one of the many various behind the scenes jobs that are available. Find out more about Matt and get the book using the links below.
